Hillcrest takes pride in its growing sustainability program and understands its responsibility in regard to future generations. We are proud to share that from 2017-2020, Hillcrest received a BOMA Best Gold Certification.
Recycling
- Hillcrest provides numerous garbage disposal throughout the property. Interior containers are comprised of bins labelled for the disposal of paper, recycling, and garbage and organics.
- Our waste container program consists of three compactors dedicated to recycling, 1 compactor dedicated to loose cardboard and 1 compactor dedicated to garbage. Info-graphs and memos are regularly provided to our tenants keeping our recycling program top of mind to help capture any waste that can be recycled.
- All of the aforementioned programs have resulted in a diversion rate of 51% in the past 6 months, equating to the saving of:
- 4,299 trees
- 325,390 of oil
- 5,995,967 litres of water
- 811 cubic meters of landfill space
Bicycle Parking Stations
Post and bike rack parking stands are available at Hillcrest Mall are located at the following entrances: 1, 5 & 6. View on map.
EV Charging Stations
To encourage and support sustainable transportation, Hillcrest Mall has installed 6 EV charging stations that are currently being offered to our visitors free of charge, with future plans to further expand on this service. Located near Entrance 6.
Lightening Technologies
Hillcrest Mall has invested in energy saving technologies to reduce energy waste throughout the centre. Over 95% of our mall lighting has been replaced with LED lighting, and incorporated onto our BAS or equipped with an occupancy sensor to ensure energy is not being wasted when it is not required.
